The Met Office is the United Kingdom's national weather service, and a world leader in providing weather and climate services nationally and internationally together with our partner organisations.

The Met Office employs more than 1,700 at 60 locations throughout the world. Set up as a Trading Fund within the United Kingdom Government's Department for Business Innovation and Skills, the Met Office operates on a commercial basis under set targets, in addition to research and development activities at the forefront of their fields. The Met Office carries out a broad range of research which underpins all its products and services, delivered to a huge range of customers from governments to businesses, the general public, armed forces, and other organisations.

Met Office research and services address a wide range of time scales, from tailored weather forecasts for hours, days and weeks ahead with 24/7 monitoring and support, to pioneering monthly-to-decadal predictions exploring the predictability of key phenomena affecting regional climate, to centennial climate projections supporting international policy-making and climate change adaptation activities. The Met Office services for transport include solutions for the aviation, marine, road and rail industries.
