Service delays and cancellations

Extreme weather in winter can result in delays to, or cancellations of, scheduled transport.

Examples include the closure of multiple airports across the UK during the extremely cold winter of 2009/2010, delays and cancellations to Eurostar services in December 2009 due to snow, and disruptions to rail services across Northern Europe (UK, Netherlands, Germany) in January 2007 as a result of a severe windstorm.

SPRINT provides information about the potential for weather impacts on UK transport ahead of (and during) the winter season.
